The World Bank Children’s Art Prize: Livable Planet

The World Bank Family Network and Art Program are joining forces to launch the World Bank Children’s Art Prize, a new art contest for all World Bank Group children.

The theme of the inaugural contest is “Livable Planet.” 

Submissions can take various forms, including drawings, paintings, graffiti, photography, or digital art. 

 

The deadline for submission is Friday, March 8, 2024.

The competition is open to children between the age of 3 and 18, whose parents or caregivers are employees of the World Bank Group.

Below you will find information on: prizes and awards, art technical requirements, and submission instructions.

Prizes & Awards

  • The winning artist’s work will be featured on the 2024 World Bank holiday card, which is distributed to heads of state, business leaders, and officials worldwide.
  • All submitted artworks will be displayed in a special exhibition during the 2024 Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C.
  • Age group winners (3-6 years old, 7-12, 13-18) will have their art displayed in the World Bank President’s Office through 2024 and receive a certificate from the World Bank Group.

Judging will be blind and take place after the 2024 Spring Meetings. The panel will include a select group of World Bank staff and an art expert from the Smithsonian Institution. 

 

Technical Requirements

  • The artworks should be submitted on A4 or 8.5 x 11-inch paper.
  • All entries should be clearly labeled on the back with: the child’s name, age, and country of residence. And include the parent’s name and World Bank Group email address.
  • Submissions must be accompanied with the entry form below.
  • Artworks on paper only (any technique admitted).
  • The World Bank Art Program will mount your artwork for display.  Artworks will not be framed.

Submission Instructions

  • Hand deliver or mail your artwork by Friday March 8, 2024 at 5:00pm EDT.
  • Artworks can be submitted to the World Bank headquarters or respective country offices. 
  • To submit artwork:
    1. Headquarters: Bring your submission to MC1-749 (Next to Staff Association offices)
    2. Country Office: Country Offices should mail the artworks via Diplomatic Pouch – category “Educational Material”.
