Meet the teams—Communications Team

WBGFN programs and activities are run by our members for our members. Our volunteers are members from around the world who dedicate their time, talents and energy to giving back. Volunteering at WBGFN is not only a great opportunity to use your skills and experience for the benefit of the WBG and wider communities, but also to learn new skills, enhance your professional development, and boost your social life. WBGFN volunteers work in an extraordinarily wide range of positions, from event organization and database management to branding and graphic design. Browse the descriptions of what the main WBGFN teams do below and register to volunteer based on your personal and professional interests. These detailed descriptions are only to be used as a guide and can be adapted to suit the individual’s skill and time commitment.

Meet the teams—Communications Team

Communication Team

Projecting the face and the voice of the World Bank Family Network.

We are a passionate group of volunteers using communication skills and knowledge to manage a variety of tools and channels that connect WBGFN with its members, the World Bank Group and other partner institutions. Our work involves everything seen and heard in the organization, from the website you are in right now to posts about events and activities you follow on our social media platforms. Each message WBGFN shares and each product delivered has the Communication Team’s touch behind it.

We are always excited to welcome new volunteers to the Team!  Whether you are based in Bangkok, Johannesburg or Washington DC, join us virtually to share your expertise and gain new skills. Look at our volunteer positions listed at the bottom of the web page and don’t hesitate to contact us.

The activity of the Communication Teams is concentrated in the four following fields:

Publications

From the monthly newsletter @-a-Glance to web articles, all editorial content is developed under the Communications Team’s supervision. Dual career, parenting and cultural adjustment are some of the most popular topics among WBGFN members. The Communications team members make sure to reflect the interest and needs of our global community while preparing high-quality publication materials.

Social Media

The Social Media Team plans, researches and produces content using creative tools, live streaming and storytelling. Through our Social Media Platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube) you acquire snapshots of WBGFN’s events, services and community life in the Country Offices and Washington DC. The Telegram and WhatsApp chat groups are great additions which enhance community experience and sense of belonging. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of our seminars and programs are now available online to all WBGFN members around the world.

Website

Our website is a treasure trove of information of the Family Network. Here you will find institutional content related to our history, structure, mission, programs, services, activities, as well as articles and images developed by the Communications Team. We also keep valuable content from the organization archives online

Marketing

The Marketing Team plans and leads the marketing strategy for the WBGFN, providing ongoing support to our leadership, including designing campaigns to effectively drive our members' awareness of the organization's mission. We also ensure brand consistency through all marketing channels.
