From the Presidents' desk—June 2025

Dear WBFN members and partners,

As summer arrives, we reflect on an incredible FY25, made possible by the passion and dedication of our global volunteers. WBFN thrives because of you. From organizing events, leading initiatives, to supporting members through transitions, your contributions have built a resourceful, connected community. You are the heart of WBFN, and we are deeply grateful!

Our strength lies in uniting spouses/partners, and families worldwide, providing support, opportunity, and belonging. This year WBFN thrived with 84 Local Chapters, 1,709 engaged members, and over 50 events across regions. Our reach grew to 9,363 members, with 65% female and 35% male participation, and event satisfaction soared to an impressive 91% reaffirming the value of our shared initiatives.

This remarkable year was shaped by accomplishments by our volunteers. WBFN remains a global force for connection and empowerment, thanks to you. We restructured our Executive Committee Chairs to strengthen leadership and expanded community volunteering to deepen engagement. The launch of Men’s Corner at WBFN brought unique, much-needed support. Enhancements to Job Scan and the Professional Development Program (PDP) streamlined career resources, while the Local and Broader Spouses Surveys identified key needs of our members worldwide to guide future efforts.

The Children's Art Prize celebrated creativity and cultural connection, receiving over 750 entries worldwide. It inspired 15 workshops led by our members in various country offices.

We also advanced resources for Navigating Transitions and Third Culture Kids, supporting families in the dynamic process of relocation and adaptation. Signature programs such as Welcoming Information Sessions, Career Lab Cycles, and International Transition workshops remained vital in equipping members with the tools necessary for change.

Looking ahead, we have exciting initiatives on the horizon. The Teen Summer Program (TSP) will kick off at the end of June, welcoming 55 teens globally. Singapore will proudly reintroduce the program this year, and 2 additional country offices will launch TSP next fiscal year.

June marks a period of gatherings and farewells, and WBFN continues to play a vital role for members through transitions. Our local chapters are strengthening connections and building impactful communities. Recent events in Islamabad, Dhaka, and Addis Ababa provided essential information and support for families on the move. In Vienna, the Potluck Picnic brought together 200 members for a vibrant morning of food, fun activities, and a collaborative art project titled “Together We Thrive.”

As we bid farewell to those moving on to new countries/locations, we welcome you to make use of our great resource: www.toolstomove.org, where you will find information, ideas and tips, with a special emphasis on the experience of the accompanying family members.

A shining example of global outreach took place in Islamabad, where members led a donation drive supporting a school in Azad Kashmir. Their efforts raised $250, funding books, registers, and chairs, bringing hope to both students and teachers. These acts of generosity demonstrate the power of a global network united in service. As we continue to evolve, staying connected and responsive to members worldwide remains a priority. We are enhancing our Communication Strategy, refining our Website & Social Media Platforms, and developing User-Friendly Messaging through Email, Telegram, and WhatsApp. Collaborating with WBG IT, we are updating Social Media Guidelines to ensure effective engagement across digital platforms.

To our volunteers - you inspire, uplift, and empower members worldwide. Your efforts create lasting impact, and we deeply appreciate all that you do!

With gratitude,
Sandipa & Joel
