Did you know that you can receive mail via the office pouch?

Receiving surface mail is a rare event for many of us, when we relocate to a country office location. In many locations, the mail system is not reliable and mail doesn’t come through. By using the address below, you can have personal mail sent to the WBG’s Shipping Facility in Landover, US. The mail will be scanned and sent in the office pouch to the country office. Here, your spouse (the staff) will receive the mail, and can bring it home to you.

Which type of mail is accepted?

  • Personal mail (letters, credit card statements, tax returns, bank statements, bills and other forms of letter mail, subscriptions to newspapers, magazines and scholarly journals).
  • Books, dvd’s, cd’s, audio/video tapes (no other items). These items must not be resold or used for commercial purposes.

This is the address you can use:

[Your name]
[Staff name], [country office mail stop number]
World Bank Group
3301 Pennsy Drive
Landover, MD 20785
USA

How do you find the correct mail stop number? Ask your spouse, the Global Mobility Focal Point in your location, or your Family Network.

What is the size limit? Boxes measuring larger than 18" x 12" x 12" (approximately the size of a case of copy paper) or weighing more than 40 lbs. are not accepted.

How fast will the mail arrive to the country office? This is subject to space in the pouch, scanning and handling, and shipping schedule.

This service is only available for relocated families and staff.

The Bridge is published twice a month, on topics that we think can be useful to share among worldwide members of the Family Network. Have a point to share with the Family Network community? Let us hear from you at WBFN Worldwide.
