Whether you’ve arrived in DC for the first time or are returning after some time away, whether you’ve been here for one week or for a year, come discuss with other WBG spouses/partners:
losses and gains when moving between countries & cultures
the psychological aspects of moving and the process of change
the culture of the U.S. and the influences that contribute to Americans behaving…well…“American!”

This workshop is led by professional facilitators from within the World Bank Group community, Nancy LeBaron and Yvonne Quahe, who actually met at one of these workshops years ago. Lunch is provided, so you can socialize with the other participants and meet members of the WBFN Executive Committee and Office staff.

The free website toolstomove.com is another source of support for anybody who faces relocation or has recently moved. Toolstomove was written by Ki Harley Roberts, Nancy LeBaron and Yvonne Quahe and is based on their experience of preparing and facilitating the WBFN Surviving Culture Shock Workshops to successive groups of newcomers from different parts of the world.
Toolstomove aims to ease your transition, to help you reflect on and understand your reactions and those of your family members, to work through feelings relating to your move and to engage actively in new ventures. WBG spouses/partners who do not live in the DC area and who are unable to attend Surviving Culture Workshops are especially encouraged to use this valuable support tool.
