Nefertare was born in Paris, has a Congolese father and a French mother. She grew up in France with a strong attraction for Africa.
Very early on, she learned to be proud of her origins and of her father who initiated her to Egyptology and Archeology. She first relocated to Brazzaville, Congo; just for a year when she was a young girl! Washington, DC; is her first relocation after marriage with her 12 years old son and her husband, who just got the renewal of his special assignment with the World Bank for another 2 years.
Nefertare likes to help others, and so she volunteered with WBFN as soon as she discovered this amazing organization, actually 16 months after her arrival! She never received any forwarded email or welcoming binder…But luckily she had the chance to finally meet Carmen, an ex-active member of WBFN, through whom she learnt more about WBFN. Maaike, the welcoming Chair of last year called
her as soon as she saw her background, to be part of the new database testers. Although she studied ethnology and sociology, Nefertare used to work in the telecom area as a software trainer, and as a training planner. Nefertare, was also part of the Executive Committee of employees of the company where she worked. In spite of her introvert personality (she hates giving long speeches!) she will keep on helping the newcomers along with others volunteers and will keep enjoying the DC way of life: easy access to diverse culture, excellent networking, enjoyable happy hours, and multitude of sporting activities.
