With a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering
and Management Uta left the university well equipped to tackle the world of consulting, providing both technical expertise and business reasoning to international clients throughout the world. While she had already learned to love the international environment through these experiences as an SAP consultant, this also meant spending a lot of time at airports and on airplanes during the last few years. Although, she enjoyed working in Dubai, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Germany during this time; she is now very happy not only to have significantly decreased her annual airline mileage, but also to be able to settle in Washington DC without having to pack her bag every Sunday after just having returned from a project on Friday. Besides her degree, Uta also got her husband Uwe in the university, with whom she not only shares almost the same name, but also shares the love for the outdoors and appreciates their time together in DC where they get to explore the beautiful nature around them. Though Uta has visited the United States many times before and has lived abroad for quite a while, she is amazed
anew every day experiencing the expat life in DC. Trying to import a bit of her German style of living, Uta tries to stick to her preferred means of transportation and loves to use her bike whenever and wherever possible. You might recognize her bright orange helmet, while passing the daily traffic jam on 16th Street! Uta is also very happy that she found the WBFN early on in her stay at Washington, and enjoys every minute of volunteering there. She has been helping with designing the processes for the new Member Management System, and has taken up organizing the Annual Potluck Picnic. Uta says that she is amazed by the multitude of personalities, skills and the warm friendship she has found at the WBFN. WBFN for her is a real home away from home!
