It’s already October, summer seems far away as the leaves are turning red and yellow, and we are encouraged to decorate our homes for Halloween. It is also a month to look ahead and plan for future activities. Life has settled into its routine and many of us are trying to immerse ourselves into available opportunities or demanding jobs. But, do not forget that along with being busy, we also need to make new friends, establish new networks and integrate into our vibrant neighborhoods. In this issue of Mosaic we bring you a mélange of articles both to inspire and entertain you. Read the stirring story of how you can get back on your feet even when “Love goes sour”. We hope you will be motivated to give back to the community after reading about Project Aumazo. Our member Sarah Xiajio Fang entertainingly tells you of her “Adventure in America,” and the by-lanes she had to navigate while attempting to get herself a SSN number and a driver’s license. Our teenagers extol the virtues of the social networking site—Facebook. We encourage all newcomers to please read about the Buddy system and make new friends.
Please remember that October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and we hope that you will be participating in the various related activities. We anticipate you will add meaning to your shopping by visiting the MMMF Fair and shopping for you holiday needs knowing that you are helping a noble cause. Do not forget our Potluck Picnic on October 4th at the Bretton Woods Recreation Center. Feel free to stop by WBFN and be part of the many activities that go on here. If you would like to join the Mosaic Team, you are most welcome to join our meetings and mailing list.
