National Family Volunteer Day is on November 17th, it is an annual service day that is always held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Then kick off the holiday season with the Baltimore Thanksgiving Parade that goes down Pratt Street through the Inner Harbor on November 17, 2007, 11 a.m. Keep your eyes peeled for marching bands, bugle corps, clowns and floats. If you can’t make it on November 17th then try to catch Santa Claus with all the performers, antique cars, and balloons at the Reston Holiday Parade on November 28th. Do you want to do your little to help the homeless people in the Washington Metropolitan area? Then, join the “Help the Homeless Walk” on the National Mall on November 22nd 2008. The walk aims to raise awareness and funds for the Washington, DC area organizations that are working to prevent and end homelessness. Pre-registration begins at 7:00 am on the front law of the Dept of Agriculture, between 12th and 14th streets NW. The walk begins at 9:00 am, is about 3.1 miles long and goes around the Tidal Basin.
