MMMF LogoThank You to Volunteers at the MMMF Fair
(Oct. 28th, 29th and 30th 2008)

We want to thank ALL volunteers who have helped this year with the 2008 MMMF Arts and Crafts Fair. The list is too long for us to put down each individual name (we had over 60 volunteers) but we want you to know that we appreciate each of you, in whatever volunteer capacity you helped us. This could have been: making soup, donating baked goods, helping out in the kitchen, serving food at Le Café, being a “Runner”, selling at the MMMF donation table and/or door prize tickets, and the important job of publicity. Each and every volunteer has been valuable to us and we hope that we can count on all of you for the 2009 MMMF Arts and Crafts Fair.

Fair overview

The Board of the Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund wants to share with you the good news that this year Fair proceeds were impressive against all the odds of economic slowdown! The raised funds of approximately $53,000 net will go towards scholarships for women from developing countries who pursue graduate studies in the U.S, Canada and now also in South Africa. The MMMF Board is working on expanding the overseas program to other countries.

Georgine AhmadEach year, through an elaborate selection process by the MMMF Selection Committee, recipients are carefully chosen upon their academic credentials and financial needs. The yearly award ceremony, whereby the recipients are personally invited to receive their grants, will be held in May, and the whole World Bank community is welcome to attend. Further details regarding this event will follow in the next issues of the Mosaic. Meanwhile, please go to the MMMF website: www.mmmf-grants.org to learn more.
